The book also features the cyber art of Gil Melle (The American film composer/jazz musician/scientist/painter/inventor and cyber artist. PLANET 8 RECORDS JOINS ESC RECORDS GROUP FOR WORLDWIDE DISTRIBUTION
Planet 8 Records is proud to announce its new partnership with one of Europe’s most outstanding independent record companies, the Frankfurt-based ESC Records Group.
ESC’s Executive Director, Ulrich Vohrmehr, has long been an enthusiastic fan and supporter of Clive Stevens, the president of Planet 8, and all of his projects. Vohrmehr is one of Germany’s most experienced and well-respected “label guys”. “ and ESC Records’ catalog includes some of the jazz world’s greatest stars: Joe Zawinul, Hiram Bullock, Randy Brecker, Wayne Henderson and Steve Khan.
As of October 10, 2008, all three of Planet 8’s releases shall be available through ESC’s network of distribution partners, which include Rough Trade in Germany, Edel in Austria, Enfasis in Spain, Sphinx in France and Proper Music in the UK. Planet 8 will also benefit through ESC’s digital distribution arrangement with Edelnet, which will make all of Planet 8’s releases available on 500 sites worldwide, including iTunes, Rhapsody and eMusic.
Planet 8 Records, based in South Florida, is the fulfillment of Clive Stevens’ vision as a musician and producer: to provide a voice for a new generation of artists in the 21st Century and to present his own music, which is a fusion of future jazz, electronica, progressive rock, new r & b/soul, underground hip hop and world music.
Planet 8’s artistic packaging is as integral to the label’s vision as its music. Clive Stevens has brought in graphic designer Michael Potretke who has created CD packaging for all of Planet 8’s catalog which is as striking and artistic as the music within.
The agreement with ESC Records coincides with the release of Planet 8’s third offering: The Greatest Hits of Mr. X by Clive Stevens. This album is Stevens’ ninth album and his first release for Planet 8 under his own name.
